Dr. James Dawson
We are pleased to welcome James Dawson, an Auckland-based periodontist, for an engaging and informative session on key periodontal topics. James will covergingival grafting for exposed root surfaces and provide a referral guide for general practitioners. He will also explore the latest evidence on surgical vs. non-surgical periodontal treatment, the links between periodontal disease and systemic health (including diabetes, heart disease, and premature birth),current perspectives on perio-endo cases, and the appropriate use of antibiotics in managing chronic and acute periodontitis.

Biography
Dr. James Dawson
BSc, BDS, DClinDent
Dr. James Dawson graduated with his dental degree from the University of Otago in 2009. After undertaking a position as a dental house officer in Auckland, he worked in private practice in Newcastle, Australia. He returned to New Zealand in 2014 to undertake his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry and gain specialist registration as a Periodontist.
James’ doctoral research was in the use of diode lasers for the management of dental implant surface decontamination. Whilst in Dunedin, James was involved in the undergraduate dentistry teaching program, and he also provides continuing education to dentists both in New Zealand and Australia.
James works in specialist practice in Auckland, is actively involved in the profession, and is on the executive committee of the Auckland Dental Association.
